The Path to Glory

The Path to Glory

Oh, what a story that would make.

But is it one many are willing to take?

I never thought what the journey would mean when I started.

I never could’ve fathomed who I would be in parts of it

Was it truly me in the thick of it,

Making a mess of it,

Failing the test again

At first, I only thought about where it would take me.

Not what it would make me

I didn’t see myself questioning the vision.

I didn’t see myself rejecting the mission.

Oh, the pain and confusion

How did I ever see it as amusing?

When I heard the testimonies of others declaring

What the Lord did on High

Declaring victories with their battle cries

I followed their words with praise.

Thank God for His mercy and Grace

Thinking about the glory of the coming days

Saying Lord, send me

Lord prepare me

Lord, great things I will see

Lord, You get the glory.

I never thought I would plead in confusion and pain, Lord, let me be.

Experiencing moments of despair,

Wondering if I even cared

Declaring, “Lord, forget about plan A. Let’s go with G.”

That’s okay with me.

But He turned a deaf ear to my pleas of compromise

And declared promise to fears,

Healing to tears

And then replayed the years of good times and victories.

Oh how the memory of success’s cheers is music to my ears

Bringing a smile to my face that could be seen in space

Knowing it was only by God’s grace

Lord help me again seek Your face

Recalling God’s faithfulness to me

Oh, this journey to Glory

What a story of His love, you see

In times of pain or laxity

He recalled to my mind with compassion.

The plans He authored,

The souls He wanted saved,

The good works He orchestrated in His abundant grace.

He spoke to the overcomer in me.

Bring life and strength to my soul.

Giving me hunger again for the things yet to be told

Infusing strength for the inner transformation to unfold

The path to glory Oh, daunting it may be

But it is worth it for me to see You in all Your Glory
