Perform is an action word that carries with it a lot of preparation
Whether it is preparation of heart, mind, skill set, or strength
Performing takes preparation, and energy is spent.
We must prepare ourselves to perform as parents, spouses, children, students, workers, employers, and employees.
In each of these performances come titles and responsibilities
Can we be more than just the things we do
Can we seek more than just what others will give kudos to
Can we be present and enjoy the relationships that we have
Can we relax and rest in God's presence and let Him speak on our behalf
Is there a time we can take a break and not feel pressure to do, show, accomplish, produce, or influence anything?
Can we choose to take an intermission and breakaway from performing
Yes, performing keeps food on the table, bills paid and loved ones content
However, performing is not the only way our time should be spent
Lord helps us to take a breathe and appreciate the fruit of our labor,
Let our bodies rest and our minds be rejuvenated
Lord, let us not be weary in well doing, help us to be wise and rest
Please help us to take a break when needed so that when it is time to perform, we do our best.
An intermission is needed. Take your rest. Then perform again at your finest.
Verse of Encouragement:
Matthew 11: 28-29 (NIV) "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
Prayer
Father God, when we feel the pressures and strain of life, do not let us try to go it alone but stop to look to You, Lord our Helper and our Strength. May we find rest, comfort, and peace in Your presence, Lord. May we always look to You, knowing that You want to show us how to live this life with joy and peace. Thank You for rest and also the strength, wisdom, and provision to do our best; in Jesus' Name Amen
I take an intermission every Sabbath ❤️. Without that weekly rest, I’d be a mess.
This was very timely for me. We do need intermissions to rest and refocus. Visiting today from FMF#14
Yes, we sure need plenty of intermissions! #10
